Our Adaptive Active programs give children and adults with diverse abilities the chance to participate in positive recreational experiences. We ensure that everyone is included by adapting to each person's unique needs and strengths.

ADAPTIVE ACTIVE

When everybody plays, we all win.

Our Adaptive Active offerings remove barriers in order to give everyone the opportunity to do what they love. Through partnerships, we provide all of us a chance to experience the joy that comes from being active and playing sports. These programs show children and adults of every ability and skill level how to reach their fullest potential.

We all deserve a fun, supportive place to grow and thrive. And the benefits of Adaptive Active programs impact everyone involved. Participants, families, volunteers, and staff:

  • Gain confidence and self-esteem as positive relationships develop
  • Experience growing independence and responsibility while working as part of a team
  • Nurture a healthy lifestyle as physical, social, and cognitive abilities are strengthened

MIRACLE LEAGUE

Everyone's welcome to play ball! Players with diverse abilities dress in uniforms, make plays in the field, and round the bases, just like their peers in standard baseball leagues.

SUPER HOOPS

Our goal is to provide people with disabilities an opportunity to play basketball in a safe, inclusive environment. We pair players with qualified volunteers to assist on and off the court.

TOPSOCCER

US Youth Soccer TOPSoccer (The Outreach Program for Soccer) players connect with their volunteer and other athletes to have fun playing soccer in a structured, recreational group setting.

Adaptive Active programs are for individuals with physical, developmental, or intellectual disabilities who choose to participate in activities alongside others with diverse abilities. Activities are focused on removing barriers to participation and helping everyone succeed.

As The Ability Center (TAC) likes to say: “Not disABLED sports, wheelchair sports.” But wheelchair and adaptive sports can be intimidating -- especially if it’s your first time.

TAC: Open Gym removes the fear and offer an unmatched opportunity for people of all ages and abilities to play TOGETHER in a "different pair of shoes." The unique program provides a safe, inclusive, non-competitive space where friends, family, peers, and colleagues can join in fun-filled activities.

From wheelchair basketball to sitting volleyball, goal ball to tennis, TAC adapts all kinds of sports and games to make sure everyBODY feels welcomed, wanted, and comfortable.
